Choosing the right tennis string depends on your playing style, skill level and personal preferences.

There are strings in different types of material or a combination of materials. Our range of tennis strings is categorized into 4 types of strings. Each type of string is made of a different type of material, distinguishing between gut, polyester, nylon and multifilament strings. Each of which offers on various playing properties. Below is an overview with the four types of strings and their corresponding playing properties.

Professional players often prefer gut or polyester because of their specific needs, while recreational players often use nylon or multifilament strings because of the balance between performance and comfort. It is important to experiment and find the string that suits you best.


Gut strings

  • Made from natural casings.
  • Known for their superior playability and feel.
  • Offer excellent ball control and cushioning, giving you great control over your stroke.
  • Disadvantage: Durability - gut strings can break easily and are more expensive than other options.
  • Usually the choice of professional players because of performance.
  • Provides comfort.

Polyester strings

  • Made of synthetic material, usually polyester.
  • Offer excellent durability and retain their tension for a long time.
  • Deliver plenty of control and spin, allowing aggressive players to modify their strokes.
  • Disadvantage: Less feel and damping compared to gut or multifilament strings, which some players may find less comfortable.
  • Often require smooth and consistent technique due to stiffness.
  • Provides power.

Nylon strings

  • Made of synthetic materials, such as nylon or polyamide.
  • Provides a good balance of durability, playability and comfort.
  • Suitable for all levels of play, from beginners to advanced players.
  • Offers a good mix of control and power.
  • Disadvantage: Faster loss of tension than polyester strings.
  • An all-around string.

Multifilament strings

  • Made of many thin fibers woven together.
  • Offer excellent cushioning and comfort, making them suitable for players who have arm problems or are looking for a softer feel.
  • Deliver more power and trampoline effect compared to polyester strings.
  • Disadvantage: Generally less durable than polyester strings and less control than gut or polyester strings.
  • An all-around string that offers spin.
